Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo 2008
The first Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo took place on the evenings of 8th - 11th May, and welcomed over 16,000 people into the private grounds of Windsor Castle. Audiences witnessed a fantastic display of military acts including the Musical Drive of The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, The Household Cavalry’s Musical Ride and an enthralling battle re-enactment scene, as well as the traditional military music from the combined bands of the Life Guards, Scots Guards and Welsh Guards. The finale welcomed more than 100 troops recently returned from action, and it truly was ’A Heroes Welcome’ as the audience showed their support through rousing applause to the sound of Brittanic Salute, whilst the chior sang a heart-warming rendition of the hymn, Abide with me. The event was strongly supported by The Royal Family with Princess Anne, The Earl of Wessex, Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Philip all in attendance. All proceeds from the event will be going to The Royal British Legion to support today’s soldiers and their families. Please click here for the video clip taster of what the Tattoo looked like. |

The TA100 National Pageant A celebration of 100 years of the Territorial Army, which was staged on Horse Guards Parade on Saturday, 21st June 2008. The event included a huge variety of past and present military vehicles, live action re-enactments, and a performance from opera singer Jonathan Amstell, underpinned by narration from Bernard Cribbins, Rula Lenska and Richard Holmes.’ |
